I've not been blogging to Vox for sometime now, mainly due to the fact that the application didn't play very nicely with my Nokia N95.
Hopefully all that should now change with the release of a point update to the S60 client..
It's easy to install, just click 'Check Version' from the mobile client menu..
This post has been written from the new version and I have to say so far so good..
Unusually this morning Harvey was fast asleep in his bed when I got down to the kitchen. He was snoring his little head off, of course I had to video him..
I love the look on his face when he wakes up...
After previously announcing that Nokia (Smart2go) Maps would be available from Sat, I see that the Nokia have updated their Mobile Search page to Nokia Search & Maps and that it contains a large button that says that Maps will be available from Monday 12th...
Just a little longer to wait...
I have found a couple more little issues during my use of Vox Mobile:
When I post from VM, my new post settings are set to 'Public' (default on my handset), but when they actually appear online they are set as 'Friends & Family' which is my default setting on vox.com. It would seem that this overrides the VM settings. To overcome I have currently set my online 'New Post' settings as 'Anyone',
Also worth mentionng is the difference in termonology as visibility is 'Public' on Vox Mobile but 'Anyone' on vox.com.
When taking a picture and selecting 'Add & Edit Post', when the 'New Post' screen appears, if you get a text message at this point or you don't touch it and the screensaver kicks in, it takes you to the Gallery screen instead (see image below) but still says 'New Post'. The new post is not present in the list until you exit and start the application again. (This issue doesnt seem to occur if you have VM running before you take the picture though).
Not major showstoppers, but I thought that I'd bring them to your attention ;-)
I have been playing around with Opera Mobile on my N73 the last few days and am really becoming to start to like it more than the standard S60 web browser.
The page rendering seems a lot cleaner than Nokia's offering which I have been using up till now. One thing that I have noticed is that I've not had any browser crashes or 'out of memory' error messages either.
The downside is that Opera comes at a price.. Will I get it after the trial ends? I'd like too but if i'm tied to this handset and don't have the opportunity to upgrade my phone, then no, it will be money wasted..
Anybody else been using Opera Mobile?
